My Report on the New Zealand Woodpigeon

If you live in New Zealand you would've seen this bird before. Maybe it was nesting in a tree or flying in the sky, but you would've seen one. The New Zealand Woodpigeon, or Kereru, is a native to New Zealand and is highly treasured. This report is going to tell you some reasons why it is so treasured.
Firstly, it lives all over New Zealand, in large trees such as the Kowhai. They fly from tree to tree, making their nests. Kereru make their nests on large branches high up in the sky.
Secondly, it spreads native seeds all around New Zealand. Without the Kereru, there would be hardly any native forest.  It eats the berries of the native Puriri tree, Miro tree, the Taraire tree and Karaka tree. The Kereru also eat shrubs and bushes.
Lastly, their call and colour. The Kereru call can bring joy to any heart and they are a very fat but beautiful bird.
If you live in New Zealand you would've seen this bird before and if you do see one, feel happy because it is highly treasured.
